The Good Life Community Budget

 

Start up Businesses may be eligible for a grant from The Good Life Community Budget of up to £250 (subject to available funds).

 

Staffordshire Business Innovation Centre - Small Business Grants Fund

 

Staffordshire BIC is part of a European network of over 160 organisations which assist businesses and individuals to evaluate and develop inventions, innovations and technology related issues.

 

The Small Business Grants programme can offer up to £5000 for employment creation projects. You may be eligible if you are:

 

  • Creating a permanent job as a new start-up business or a small and medium sized enterprise
  • Ineligible to apply for other grant funding

 

The grant can be used for capital or revenue expenditure and up to 33.33% of the total project cost.

Blue Sky Corporate Finance – High Growth Investment Programme

 

An independent provider of accountancy, corporate finance and due diligence expertise to businesses across the West Midlands. They also deliver the High Growth Investment Programme on behalf of the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP.

 

This programme offers grant funding for expansion, capital equipment purchases, support for training, and research and development. Grant value will be between £10,000 and £100,000, and the project it supports must generate new employment.

Business Innovation Programme (Birmingham City Council)

The programme focuses on supporting SMEs which have been trading for 6 months or more, and are looking to invest, create new jobs and safeguard existing jobs.

 

Applicants are encouraged to incorporate a combination of: capital expenditure, new product development, new marketing development and/or business innovation mentoring.

Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme

Grant support of £20,000 - £1 million to support existing SME supply chain companies to help grow and diversify into the green sector. Funding is available on a competition basis for businesses seeking to implement an investment plan to develop their business and create sustainable new jobs or safeguard existing ones.

 

Projects that can be considered include: purchase of capital equipment, relocation to new premises, new product or market development, development of management and staff capability. See the website for the full eligibility criteria.

North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce

 

Jobs and Growth Fund

 

Funded by the Regional Growth Fund and delivered by North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce (NSCCI)

 

This programme offers financial support to SMEs that wish to expand or invest to create sustainable jobs. Grant funding is available for premises expansion, new premises, plant and machinery and infrastructure, where this creates substantial new employment or safeguards jobs.

 

Grants of up to 20% of the project value are available to businesses based or relocating in Stoke-on-Trent or Staffordshire. The company must have been operating for at least 6 months and employ fewer than 250 employees.

New Enterprise Allowance

 

The New Enterprise Allowance can provide money and support to help you start your own business if you're getting certain benefits.

 

You must be aged 18 or over, have a business idea and get one of the following benefits:

 

  • Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income Support as a lone parent
  • Employment and Support Allowance, if you’re in the work-related activity group

 

A Jobcentre Plus adviser can refer you to the scheme as soon as you get a qualifying benefit.

 

Growth Vouchers

 

Please note, you can no longer apply for Growth Vouchers. You must use any vouchers you have and submit your claim before their expiry date.

 

Up to £2,000 support available through the scheme for small businesses to grow.

 

The Growth Voucher programme will focus on small businesses accessing professional advice for the first time. This support can thoroughly increase productivity which will improve your organisation’s sales and profits.

 

Growth Vouchers can help you find expert advice in areas such as:

  • raising finance and managing cash flow
  • recruiting and developing staff
  • improving leadership and management skills
  • marketing, attracting and keeping customers
  • making the most of digital technology
  • If your organisation is eligible you could receive matched funding up to the value of £2,000.

 

In order to be eligible, you need to:

  • have been trading for more than one year
  • have a turnover of less than Euro 10M

EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) Growth Programme: Business Support

 

Funding from £35,000 up to £140,000 available depending on state aid already received.

 

This call invites applications for investments in new and existing micro and small businesses in rural areas of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. Grants are available for rural businesses seeking capital investment to help them grow and create new jobs.

 

The call is also open to farm businesses that are looking to diversify into non-agricultural activities.

 

Applicants need to register on Rural Payments before applying, and projects must be located within the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP area. There are two stages to the application process (outline application and full application). Outline application deadline Friday 8th January 2016 at 1700 hours.

 

EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) Growth Programme: Tourism

 

Grants available for this call from £35,000 up to £75,000 depending on state aid already received.

 

This call invites applications for investment to establish and develop co-operative partnerships that will improve and promote the local rural visitor economy.

Applications can be made by farmers, growers, foresters or other rural businesses and community organisations who are in the LEADER programme area and can include private businesses, public organisations, voluntary organisations and someone wanting to start a business.

BCRS Business Loans

 

BCRS provides business loans ranging from £10,000 to £100,000, to provide access to finance to enable businesses to grow and prosper. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of businesses unable to get loans from traditional sources.

 

They offer loans to businesses making a positive contribution to the social, environmental or economic well-being of the West Midlands.

 

A BCRS loan can be used for a wide range of projects including working capital, purchasing equipment, start-ups, recruitment and marketing.

Get Started: Start-up Loans

 

Government funded initiative providing start up support in the form of a repayable loan together with a business mentor for entrepreneurs.

 

Support is provided to produce a business plan which will then be considered for funding.

Midven

 

An owner-managed, entrepreneurial, venture capital company, who invest in small and medium sized businesses. They focus mainly on businesses requiring up to £1m investment in an initial fundraising round.

 

In addition to the investment, they can work in partnership with you to drive a strategy that will create value throughout your business, and also give you the opportunity to learn from the experiences of their wide ranging portfolio.

Part of the Business Growth Service.

 

Growth Accelerator can show you new ways to source and pitch for investment, helping your business expand, move into new markets and explore new products and services.

 

This is done through masterclasses led by Growth Coaches, who are finance experts with backgrounds as finance directors, accountants, lenders and investors. They’ll bring with them the most up-to-date knowledge of business finance and investment opportunities and a deep understanding of the best ways to make your company attractive to a funder.

Better Business Finance

 

Provides impartial information and support to businesses and entrepreneurs looking to develop and grow.

 

Better Business Finance has three core themes at its heart:

  • Providing mentoring support, along with information on exactly what help and what finance is available
