Gone are the days when a register office marriage meant a simple ceremony in front of an office desk. The options available enable you to have almost any kind of ceremony ranging from a simple one with just two witnesses, to the inclusion of bridesmaids, and, with music and readings of your choice. For music and readings, however, the law requires that there is no religious content, so the advice of the Superintendent Registrar should be sought beforehand.
 
An up-to-date list of premises in Staffordshire, other than register offices, which have been approved as venues for civil marriage ceremonies is available from register offices.
