Air Quality Forecast

The current air quality forecast for this area is available from the DEFRA Forecasting website.

Air Quality Management

We regularly check air quality in South Staffordshire as part of a national scheme.

If pollution goes above nationally set levels, we would then step in to tackle the problem.  We have already got four areas set up in the district  where we’re looking to reduce pollution (see links below).

The areas are:

·         Adjacent to the M6 and Teddesley Road, Nr Penkridge

Latest Report

We published a report on air quality every year.  We are going to publish our next report in spring 2016. Our reports are available here.

Reviews and Assessments

Pollution from road traffic is the most serious issue for South Staffordshire.  Nitrogen dioxide is the pollutant most likely to be found at excessive levels.  We monitor this pollutant at various sites close to main roads, where high levels are expected and people’s houses are nearby.

We continue to work with key partners, including the Highways Agency and Staffordshire County Council, to reduce pollution levels.
