- Fluorescent lighting
- Paint (oil and solvent based)
- Car batteries
- Engine oil
- Gas bottles
- Disinfectants and solvents
- Asbestos (see below)
What can I do with hazardous waste?
Hazardous household waste can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centres sites located
Please take due care when transporting the above items. Speak
with a member of staff on arrival at the site and clearly state
what item you are depositing.
Note: Household Waste Recycling Centres will only
accept household hazardous waste. Commercial waste will
not be taken. Due to space restrictions, it may be necessary to
check that capacity is available before transporting hazardous
waste to the site.
Household Waste Recycling Centre staff may ascertain
the nature of the hazardous waste taken. Hazardous waste generated
from commercial use must be disposed of through a private
contractor. The Environment Agency links below includes a full list
of licensed waste carriers.
