Canal footpathLocal Nature Reserves (LNR’s) are designated areas that are important for both biodiversity and local communities.

These are valuable resources that give people the chance to experience the natural world on their doorstep.  They provide an ideal opportunity to study and learn about nature or simply to enjoy it.

In recent years, many habitats and species in the UK have come under threat and LNR’s make an important contribution in helping to protect and enhance the UK’s biodiversity.  As the designation of an LNR is a statutory declaration, they are a very clear signal of our commitment to nature conservation.

Currently the Council manages five LNR’s across the district.  Further details about these sites can be found by following the links below.  For further information please contact Grounds Maintenance and Bereavement Services.
