Register to vote / change of name
The registration system changed in June 2014. The new system is
called Individual Electoral Registration (IER).
How to register:
- You can now register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
- Everyone is now responsible for registering
- You need to provide a few more details to
register including your National Insurance Number*
and date of birth
If you need to register, getting married or changing your name
To be registered you must be
British, Irish or from another Commonwealth Country or a from a
Member State of the EU - to check whether your nationality
qualifies - see the list of countries below.
*If you are retired and
cannot find your National Insurance Number please refer to the
letter issued each year by the Department for Work and Pensions in
February or March telling you how much your pension will

You have the right to object to
another person's application to be added to the register, or to
object to an existing entry in the Register of Electors for South
Staffordshire, as long as you are also on the electoral register.
