The capital threshold is £10,000 for those who have
reached Pension age.
This means that up to £10,000 of your capital will be ignored
in the calculation of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.
You may be entitled to
claim for Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support from the
Council as long as your savings or investments are less than
£16,000. (If you are receiving Guaranteed Pension Credit you may be
entitled even if your savings exceed £16000).
